We are now looking for two new apprentices (18-24 years old). Applications are through your Work Coach at the Job Centre. The positions are:
Trainee Repairs Administrator
Trainee Caretaker
Both positions are:
• 25 hours a week, within Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
• 6-month placements
• Paid at National Minimum Wage
• Based at BITMO, Aberfield Gate, Belle Isle.

Trainee Repairs Administrator
This 6-month placement is designed to enable the postholder to develop the skills necessary to successfully apply for roles requiring communication and customer service skills and team work.
The postholder will work within the BITMO Repairs Team.
They will undergo Health and Safety Training, and other on the job training that the team complete.
The placement will enable them to develop:
• An understanding of the role of a social housing landlord
• Office and administration skills
• Communication skills
• Time management skills
• Team work skills
• Ability to work independently with supervision
• Health and Safety awareness
• Ability to use a variety of IT tools to carry out the role
No specific skills or experience are required. An interest in working with people in a support role, and as part of a team are essential.
A thorough induction and assessment of training needs will be carried out
Training will be provided – links to 3rd party training providers will be utilised as appropriate
PPE will be provided.
A Named Mentor will be provided to coordinate the placement, and check on the well-being and progress of the individual.
Weekly meetings will be held to review progress and identify support needs
Training and a toolkit in how to apply for jobs, CV writing and interview preparation will be provided.
A learning log will be provided and completed by the post-holder, the Mentor and the Supervising Manager
A certificate of achievement will be provided at conclusion of the placement.
Trainee Estate Caretaker
This 6-month placement is designed to enable the postholder to develop the skills necessary to successfully apply for roles requiring manual skills, working indoors and outdoors as part of a team to maintain properties and grounds.
The postholder will work within the BITMO Repairs and Maintenance Team as part of the Estate Caretaking Team, and will also accompany experienced Technical Staff including the Responsive Repairs Manager on property inspections to establish the cause of property defects and identify the appropriate repair solution.
They will undergo Health and Safety Training, and other on the job training that the Caretaking team complete.
The placement will enable them to develop:
An understanding of the role of a social housing landlord
Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of an Estate Caretaking Team
Grounds maintenance skills
Time management skills
Team work skills
Ability to work independently with supervision
Health and Safety awareness
Ability to use a variety of tools to carry out the role
Awareness of minor repairs
The role will be well supported by a Placement Coordinator, the HR Manager, and the Senior Caretaker. No specific skills or experience are required. An interest in working indoors and outdoors in all weathers, and as part of a team are essential.
A thorough induction and assessment of training needs will be carried out
Training will be provided – links to 3rd party training providers will be utilised as appropriate
A Uniform and PPE will be provided
A Named Mentor will be provided to coordinate the placement, and check on the well-being and progress of the individual.
Weekly meetings will be held to review progress and identify support needs
Training and a toolkit in how to apply for jobs, CV writing and interview preparation will be provided.
A learning log will be provided and completed by the post-holder, the Mentor and the Supervising Manager
A certificate of achievement will be provided at conclusion of the placement.

We are developing a work experience programme to offer to Belle Isle tenants. We will promote this when it is available.
