Financial Inclusion Officer

Belle Isle Tenant Management Organisation has landlord management responsibility for approximately nineteen hundred council properties in the Belle Isle area of Leeds. This temporary role is to support Belle Isle tenants cope with the cost of living crisis over the next 12 months. The work will involve helping tenants manage their debts, reduce their financial commitments, maximise their income and pay their rent and debts.

You will have the ability to develop relationships with support agencies; Engage Leeds and Forward Leeds, reputable debt organisations like Leeds MIC and StepChange and charities like St Vincent’s.

You will have current practical knowledge of common welfare benefits and you will help tenants to claim benefits and research entitlement, liaising with the DWP and local authority as well as referral to employment support.

Although you will be based in the BITMO offices and community centre, you will also work off site, for example at the foodbank, in local schools and carrying out home visits. There will be occasional evening sessions.

As well as a full induction and training plan, there is also the opportunity to undertake some formal benefit training as part of this role.

Please see the JD for specific duties and more information about the role.
