Community & Tenant Support Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with tenants in Belle Isle. You will help them to access activities and services, varying from community cafes run by volunteers, to accredited courses run by Leeds City College. You will assist individuals to bid for new homes or search for jobs; and you will take a lead in helping residents get online and improve their health and wellbeing.

We are offering a permanent, full-time contract (37 hours a week) with flexibility around working arrangements (full time, part-time job share). The job is based in BITMOs GATE community resource centre, and it will also involve outreach around the estate and some working from home.

Belle Isle Tenant Management Organisation, known locally as BITMO, manages nearly 1900 council homes in Belle Isle on behalf of Leeds City Council. Led by a Board that’s predominately made up of elected tenants and formed in 2004, we are responsible for managing Leeds City Council’s housing and estate management services in the area. We work closely with Leeds City Council and BITMO is the largest estate based TMO in the country. The GATE centre opened at the end of 2013 and is a resource centre in the heart of the Belle Isle estate. We offer people living in Belle Isle access to support, advice, training and help to manage their homes and tenancies. We are recruiting a Community and Tenant Support Officer to join our team based in the GATE and enhance our support to the local community.

BITMO’s Board has opened a new Winter Warmth Fund for this winter. The Board understand the cost of living crisis that is affecting many people and have allocated money from their budget to pay for goods that can help you and your family keep warm this winter.

BITMO households in need of extra support can apply for a winter warmth pack which will contain large fleecy sherpa blankets, hot water bottles with covers and fleecy socks, with the amounts depending on how many people are in our household.
